Starbucks Gold

8 November 2008 No Comment

Starbucks Gold is a new membership program for people who really love their Starbucks. Join Starbucks Gold for an annual membership fee of $25 and receive 10 percent off most purchases at Starbucks – from espresso beverages to espresso machines. In addition, when you register your Starbucks Gold Card, you are eligible to receive other exclusive benefits. You also get a free drink when you purchase your membership in-store! You can pay however you’d like (cash, credit card, etc.)

Then when you register, you’ll unlock additional value:

  • A free beverage on your birthday
  • Exclusive offers and discounts throughout the year
  • Free Wi-Fi access for up to 2 hours each day in participating Starbucks stores

Starbucks Gold Cards may be used as a stored value card like regular Starbucks Cards. You can load your Card with money and then we’ll swipe it for your member discount.

The only issue I see is that – unlike my Barnes & Noble card, you cannot use the card unless you are the one who opened the account. My husband and I can both use my book card – but Starbucks does not allow that. I would assume though, that with the amount of coffee hubby and I purchase from Starbucks the “return of investment” would be good – but that $25 per person initial investment is a little steep.
