Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar star on the TLC reality show “18 Kids and Counting.” The couple welcomed their first grandchild in October, a daughter born to their eldest son, Josh, and his wife, Anna.

Statement from the Hospital where Michelle delivered Josie Brooklyn (added Dec 13):

“During Mrs. Duggar’s admission to University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences to evaluate pain related to gall bladder disease, her workup revealed signs and symptoms consistent with a condition known as preeclampsia.

Preeclampsia is a pregnancy-related disease that affects 5 to 8% of all pregnancies and is characterized by high blood pressure and the presence of protein in the urine.

Thursday evening, December 10, the obstetrical and neonatal teams reached the collaborative decision that Mrs. Duggar needed an emergency c-section to ensure the blood pressure problem would not be detrimental to her or the baby.

Josie Brooklyn was born at 6:27 pm, weighed 1 lb., 6 oz, measured 30 cm long and is currently in stable condition. Michelle is recovering well from surgery.

The company plans to quickly start going-out-of-business sales at hundreds of its stores, "in order to take advantage of the last two weeks of the holiday selling season," KB Toys said in a filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Del.

Why is this okay? What makes Bristol Palin any better of a person than Jamie Lynn Spears? Both are the same age with the very same situation!

Here’s a statement the McCain camp released from Todd and Sarah Palin, which is identical to the quote in the Reuters story:

“We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.”

“Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates.“

Lynne says the Palins are getting a “totally different reaction” to having an underage, pregnant daughter.

In an interview with Newsweek, Lynne says:

“I mean, the mother, [Sarah] Palin, was celebrated for this. Every woman in the world has applauded her strength and her convictions and poor little old Jamie Lynn – you saw how she was crucified. Everybody did, firsthand … I just feel like it’s been a very hypocritical situation … Do I promote teen sex? Of course not. Do I promote teen pregnancy? Needless to say, of course not. But when it happens, you deal with it and you do the best you can do.“

Lynne also defended her daughter’s photo spread in OK! mag as many people were saying it “glamorized” teen pregnancy.

Lynne said, “Sometimes, when you’re a celebrity, you have to choose the lesser of two evils. So she decided to do the OK! give a spread, give some pictures, and it really did ease off the paparazzi. It has lightened up her load a lot. If they call it glamorous, well I’m sorry. But everybody knows that once you get a new baby, it’s the most cherished time of your life – but it is not glamorous.“
