We would all like to think that our children listen to us and use common sense when they are on the internet. The fact is that many of them are taking risks while they are on the computer. In order to keep your child safe, find out how to discuss online safety, and keep you up to speed about what may be really going on, grab a copy of this internet safety kit from the Polly Klaas Foundation.

Xander began his first week of pre-k this past Tuesday along with his best buddy Lizzie and her sister Caitie. This is real pre school too – not ‘daycare’ preschool too so it’s quite different from what he’s used to. The teacher is a little lot stricter (and not as adorable as his last two favorite teachers might I add), there are no naps (which he loves – and I hate), and they even get to visit ‘God’s house’ every so often. Did I mention this pre-k is based out …

I had the opportunity to get some freebie copies of three new DVD’s for my son, Xander to enjoy! We received two Sid the Science Kid DVD’s and a Dive Olly Dive DVD! Sid and Olly are both characters that I enjoy immensely – so I love to watch their shows when they come on PBS or Sprout. Lucky for me, Xander loves them also …
Both Dive Olly Dive and Sid the Science Kid debuted only a few months ago – but they both have already been nominated for Emmy …

Whoever said that going to college and balancing your home life was easy was insane! This week was finals week for this particular school term and boy was I busy. My poor child and husband were kinda ignored this week (along with the laundry, the dishes and the dinners) and I feel bad. Especially since my husband had to go on a business trip leaving me with a grumpy little guy to take care of.
So what have we been doing? Well – last night we met up with some friends …

I used to have this saying that I shared with my friend Chrissy – “three year olds suck.” Well, since Xander has turned four I’ve had to adapt the saying. So, now I believe “four year olds suck” and here’s why. The hissy fits are horrible! We try and do everything “right” and limit television, limit games, have consequences for actions, naptime, “talking to” and everything else. We aren’t perfect parents but we, as all other parents do, want what’s best for our son.
Where this completely spoiled, on the floor …

My son is right now (like at this second) in the throes of a massive tantrum. Why? Because he decided that playing Wii was more important than eating his breakfast. He wanted to play the game and didn’t want to finish that last few bites of his cereal – but he was also asking for a snack (fruit snacks). So, what was it? Was he not hungry? Did he not like his usually loved bowl of cereal? Was he just being a jackass, power tripping preschooler? Yeah, I think I’d …

My husband and I seem to be having a problem getting on the “same page” with our son. His patience seems to wane pretty fast and it seems to me that he’s a “yeller” (I’m laying NO blame here by the way since I yell at the kid also). My issue is the “elevation of force” that we both take is different. I use more “time outs” than my husband does – he goes right to yelling. Yelling at our son seems to make him act out more and I …
